Each point on this graph represents the most recent 12 months of orders compared to the previous 12 months of orders. Each point can be read as a percentage. For example, 98.7 (the February 2013 level of the industrial hydraulic series) indicates that industrial hydraulic orders received from March 2012 to February 2013 were 98.7% of the orders received from March 2011 to February 2013. (Base Year 2008 = 100)

This graph of 12-month moving averages shows that in March 2013, both pneumatic shipments and hydraulic shipments decreased. (Base Year 2008 = 100)

Orders and Shipments – percent changes
Cumulative year-to-date 2013 vs. same months cumulative for 2012
  Pneumatic Industrial Hydraulic Mobile Hydraulic
Shipments Orders Shipments Orders Shipments Orders
Dec. 2012 3.4 3.2 4.5 0.8 0.4 -7.8
Jan. 2013 -1.8 1.1 -3.6 0.3 -13.9 -14.0
Feb. 2013 -5.3 -1.3 -8.2 -6.2 -16.6 -16.8
The table above is expressed in terms of cumulative percent changes. These changes refer to the percent difference between the relevant cumulative total for 2013 and the total for the same months in 2012. For example, the February 2013 pneumatic orders figure of -1.3 means that for the calendar year through February 2013, pneumatic orders were down 1.3% compared to the same time period in 2012. (Base Year 2008 = 100)
