The NFPA Executive Leadership Program is an in-depth and interactive program that helps emerging leaders in the fluid power industry develop their network and advance their management and leadership skills through tailored content. Its sessions are presented in collaboration with the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, with Kellogg faculty helping to curate interactions among program participations.
A third cohort of scholars are now engaging in this program, with their third in-person session just completed in December 2024 at Kellogg on the campus of Northwestern University. The sessionβs focus was on Strategic Negotiation, with the participants engaging in lecture, discussion, and case study explorations.
A Value-Based Leader
The indisputable keel for a vessel plying turbulent waters is forged from the values that give it stability in a storm. Similarly, when fully understood and incorporated into actions beyond words, values give a leader the constancy of purpose and character needed to lead effectively in the worst conditions. In this active session, program participants:
- Defined the concepts of values and character
- Examined how the essential ideas take shape in a leader
- Dove deep into comprehending and placing values into action
A Value-Based Culture
Espoused vs. lived values are the essential guideposts for life in an organization. When business leaders place the proper emphasis and attention on practical ways to bring admirable values to play in their organization, the values become a magnet for talent, a source of customer loyalty, and a profit-generating engine. In this experiential session, program participants:
- Understood how a values-based culture can transform a business
- Identified ways they can lead a values revolution in their companies
- Planned to lead the revolution as a values-based leader
This is a high-impact leadership development program, where each participant is using a customized leadership competency assessment to guide their progress through each session, and paired up with a learning partner to help ensure accountability and action between each set of sessions. The remaining three sessions for this cohort are:
Apr 2025 β Presentations with Presence
Jun 2025 β Leading Under Pressure
Plans are already underway for a fourth cohort β scheduled to begin in August 2025. Now is the time to reserve a spot for your up-and-coming professional in this unique and impactful program. Contact Eric Lanke at elanke@nfpa.com for more information.
