NFPA Scholarships: Impact of the 2024 Awards and Recruiting NFPA Members to Judge

Through the support of generous donations to the NFPA Education and Technology Foundation, and volunteer NFPA member judges, the NFPA Education and Technology Foundation awarded 25 scholarships totaling $80,000 to further fluid power education for the 2024-25 academic year.
Scholarships from the NFPA go towards a student’s tuition expenses. Below are messages from a few 2024-25 NFPA Scholarship recipients.
  • “It means a lot to know that people from the fluid power industry are so generous and foresighted enough to invest in the upcoming generation of workers.”
  • “I am extremely grateful for the support this award provides as I continue pursuing my passion for fluid power and striving to make an impact in engineering.”
  • “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this award. It means a lot to me, and I am extremely grateful and honored.”
  • “Thank you for your incredible kindness; this award means a great deal to me. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to spread the word about the National Fluid Power Association and its life-changing programs!”
  • “I am honored to have received this Fluid Power Scholarship and look forward to remaining in contact with the NFPA and its members through my pursuit of engineering.”
  •
Many of these scholarship recipients will be seeking internships or full-time jobs in the future, so please keep them in mind for your hiring needs. Watch for future NFPA News articles, where we highlight the accomplishments of each applicant.

Are you interested in volunteering on the committee that selects scholarship recipients? NFPA Members are invited to help review applications for the $2,500 Fluid Power and Tom Wanke Legacy Fund scholarship programs. Reviewers can expect to review applications in April-June 2025. This opportunity is completely virtual.

NFPA’s scholarship program relies on volunteer judges from the fluid power industry. The total time commitment is approximately 6-10 hours. In 2024, volunteer judges reviewed 187 eligible applications. This cycle, we anticipate more applications from qualified and passionate students. By joining the application review committee, NFPA members have the opportunity to identify students with optimistic futures in the fluid power industry.

If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please contact Haley Nemeth at hnemeth@nfpa.com by March 28th.
